We’ve brought the historic neighborhood to your computer screen. Harnessing the power of Google Earth, you can take a virtual tour of the River Street Neighborhood from the comfort of your own home.
The Google Earth Tour below includes a description of some of the places discussed in the oral history interviews and in historical documents. You can also see photographs of the neighborhood from the past and present, and see how the neighborhood has changed throughout time as seen through historical maps.
How to use the River Street Virtual Tour
In order to use the this virtual tour, you will need to download Google Earth. Once you’ve downloaded Google Earth, you can use the tour however you like. If you’d like to see it again in the future, simply move the tour up to your “My Places” tab.
Here is a brief tutorial that demonstrates the tour and gives you an idea of what you can do. Enjoy:
